SAS Scandinavian Airlines International expands with more flights to Shanghai and New York

Through cooperation within Star Alliance, SAS is to lease a Boeing 767 during the winter traffic program, from October 30, 2004 through March 26, 2005.

This additional capacity means that SAS can fly daily to New York from Stockholm and Copenhagen, while increasing flights from Copenhagen to Shanghai from three to six days per week.

From the beginning of February, we will be able to offer our customers an even better product, since we are installing the Internet on board all of our eleven Airbus 330/340s during the winter. SAS will be the first airline to offer Internet on board all long haul aircrafts.

The United Airlines Boeing 767 will operate on the Copenhagen-Washington route. The flights will be operated on behalf of SAS, with a SAS flight number and SAS station service, and with a crew from United Airlines. The service is code-shared with United Airlines.

SN Brussels Airlines adds Sofia to its network thanks to code-share agreement with Bulgaria Air

SN Brussels Airlines expands its presence in Central Europe thanks to a codeshare-agreement with Bulgaria Air. SN can offer its clients now 4 weekly flights, all operated by Bulgaria Air between the European capital and Sofia.

Starting 31 October, SN Brussels Airlines will put its well known ‘SN’ flight code on the existing services of Bulgaria Air between Brussels Zaventem Airport and Sofia. Thanks to this new partnership, clients of SN Brussels Airlines can travel now between the capital of Europe and the capital of Bulgaria on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight schedule allows smooth business travel. The Friday, Sunday and Monday flights allow long citytrips in Brussels or Sofia. Popular ‘Ski Breaks’ in Bulgaria are made possible as well thanks to this flight offer.

All flights will be operated by Bulgaria Air with Boeing 737 (business and economy class configuration). Bulgaria Air offers a full inflight service including hot meals, newspapers and free drinks. The flight time will be 2 hours and 40 minutes. SN Brussels Airlines and Bulgaria Air will sell seats through their respective distribution channels.

Bulgaria Air was created in December 2002 and is operating under the LZB and FB code. Bulgaria Air operates 8 Boeing 737 aircraft and has established partnerships with several well-known European carriers.

“This partnership with Bulgaria Air is another example of our focus on the emerging Central European markets”, says SN Brussels Airlines Chief Executive Officer Peter Davies “The flightschedule is not only attractive for business travel, but also for leisure and for connections via Brussels to many of SN’s European and even African or US destinations.“

70 destinations in SWISS winter timetable

Swiss International Air Lines will continue to serve 70 destinations worldwide under the new winter timetable, which takes effect on October 31. Alicante was added to the route network in September, bringing to 43 the number of destinations SWISS serves in Europe. On the intercontinental front SWISS serves 27 destinations, with flights to Karachi being discontinued.

SWISS is improving its product by offering more attractive departure times, optimised connections and more frequencies. In Europe, a total of 43 destinations in 22 countries are served, while intercontinental services comprise 27 cities in 19 countries. The total number of destinations in the route work remains unchanged from the summer timetable, with one more destination in Europe and one less on the intercontinental front. In addition, 13 more destinations are served with codeshare flights operated by SWISS partner airlines. These flights carrying an LX flight number.

European operations
In Zurich the route network has been expanded with the addition of Alicante. Improved departure times have been introduced for flights to Budapest, Copenhagen, Manchester, Warsaw, Prague and Geneva. Extra frequencies have been added for flights to London City, Manchester and Prague. Thanks to new codeshare flights, SWISS customers can take advantage of additional services to Budapest (operated by Malev) and Copenhagen (operated by Maersk).

From Basel, passengers will now fly to London City rather than London Heathrow. In Berlin, SWISS moves operations to Tegel Airport due to the planned closure of Tempelhof.

The winter timetable also connects Geneva with London City. Codeshare flights to Heathrow, which are operated by British Airways, will remain available for the time being. Also new are a non-stop daily codeshare flight between Geneva and Copenhagen, operated by Maersk Air, and a twice-daily codeshare service between Geneva and Budapest, operated by Malev. In response to demand from numerous business travellers, SWISS has added a third morning flight from Geneva to Zurich, departing at 07:00.

The popular winter alpine destination of Sion will be served on Saturdays from mid-December to mid-April with a Zurich-Sion-London-Sion-Zurich pattern. This service provides easy access to the Alps of Canton Valais for winter tourists from the UK and other countries, either non-stop or via Zurich.

In Europe, SWISS itself serves 42 destinations out of Zurich, 14 from Basel and 9 from Geneva. Our codeshare partners complement this route network with service to another ten destinations from Zurich and five from Geneva.

Intercontinental operations
From Zurich and Geneva, SWISS offers non-stop service to 27 intercontinental destinations. As of the start of the winter timetable the extension service between Dubai and Karachi will cease to operate. Instead SWISS will include Muscat (via Dubai) in its daily operations. Service to Tripoli will be increased from three to five times weekly starting November 28.

On January 16, 2005, the Zurich - New York / Newark route will be served with a Boeing Business Jet operated by partner PrivatAir on behalf of SWISS.

SWISS and American Airlines will adjust departure and arrival times for their jointly operated flights for even more convenience for passengers.

SWISS codeshare partners will continue to offer non-stop service to three destinations from Zurich and one from Geneva.

SWISS offers codeshare service to other destinations in the USA, Spain, Finland and Australia (Sydney) via the hubs of partners American Airlines, Iberia, Finnair and Qantas.
