Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts to open new deluxe resort
in Taba in early 2005
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts (MH&R) announces the
scheduled opening of the new luxury five-star Mövenpick
resort at Taba on Egypt's Red Sea coast in early 2005. The
latest addition to MH&R's enviable portfolio in Middle

policy in both new and existing destinations.
A 25-kilometre drive from Taba International Airport, the
property is constructed around the historic plaza where
the Egyptian Flag was hoisted by President Mubarak for the
occasion of the handing over of Taba to Egypt in 1989 .
The Resort is located directly on Taba Bay, heralded as
the new paradise on the "Egyptian Riviera". In
the north eastern corner of Egypt, Taba commands spectacular
views across the Gulf of Aqaba to Jordan and Saudi Arabia,
and nestles against a backdrop of Sinai's most picturesque
scenery of dramatic mountains and vast stretches of golden
sands.

rooms specifically designed for the disabled.
In keeping with the chain's reputation for focusing on
the excellence of its gastronomy, the Mövenpick Resort
& Casino Taba has created dining venues to satisfy the
most discerning gourmet. An all-day dinning restaurant offers
international buffets. A Chinese, a seafood and a Lebanese
restaurant comple-ment the culinary experience, while a
pool bar and kiosk offer the famous Swiss premium Mövenpick
icecream.
The hotel boasts a 400-metre private beach, four outdoor
leisure pools including two for children and toddlers in
addition to a heated indoor swimming pool. A spa and a fully
equipped fitness centre and professionally managed water
sports and diving centre offer a wide variety of aquatic
sports. Guests will also enjoy three tennis courts, a volleyball/
basketball court, and a Kid's Club.
Two meeting rooms with a capacity of up to 200 delegates
have been specially designed to accommodate local, regional
and international meetings or incentives supported by a
fully equipped business centre and the latest audio visual

Austrian Airlines Group: New from May 2005 - Vienna-Mumbai-Vianna
Five Times a Week
Hot on the tail of its new scheduled services to Shanghai
and Singapore in 2004, the Austrian Airlines Group will
be continuing the successful expansion of its long-haul
traffic in 2005. From 1 May 2026 onwards, non-stop services
between Vienna and the Indian business centre of Mumbai
(formerly known as Bombay) will be launched five times a
week. The new route will be served by a long-haul Boeing
B767 jet with 36 Business Class and 209 Economy Class seats.
Chief Executive Officer Vagn Soerensen made the following
comment on the dynamic expansion of the Austrian Airlines
Group’s long-haul services: ‘Our daily flights
to the Indian capital of Delhi (service launched in October
1997) have demonstrated an extremely strong passenger load
factor at over 80 %, and we expect similarly high levels
of demand for our new programme to Mumbai. With five non-stop
flights every week, we are offering the international business
passenger and tourist traveller a comfortable product. If
the levels of demand do justify such a move, we expect to
be able to expand our service to Mumbai to one flight a
day from the 2005/2006 winter flight schedule onwards.’
Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Josef E. Burger added, ‘Similarly
to our range of flights to and from Delhi, we shall be integrating
our flights to Mumbai into our connections into Western
and Eastern Europe via Vienna, and into our transfer system
across the North Atlantic to the USA. In addition to this,
we shall be working with Austrian tourist industry advertisers
to continue increasing the incoming tourist traffic from
India to Austria and building on this sector as a future
source of value creation.’
Mumbai is the capital of the federal state of Maharashtra
on the west coast of India. With a population of approximately
16 million people, it is the country’s second-largest
city, being smaller than Kolkata and larger than the national
capital, Delhi. As the engine of the booming Indian economy,
the city is also the leading financial centre and home to
the largest and most important stock exchange on the sub-continent.
Mumbai is the centre of India’s cotton trade and
textile industry, its film industry (‘Bollywood’),
the printing and publishing trade, shipbuilding and repair,
the country’s chemical sector, engineering and the
metalworking industry. Mumbai - often referred to
by the British as the ‘Gateway to India’ -
is a great starting-point for tourists wishing to visit
numerous points of interest across Western and Central India.
The incoming potential of Indian tourists travelling abroad
is currently estimated at around 50 million people. Last
year, approximately 39,000 Indians visited Austria, a figure
which continues to rise rapidly. |

SWISS concludes term sheet for secured credit facility
Following complex negotiations, SWISS has signed a term
sheet for a CHF 325 million secured credit facility with
an international banking syndicate. The consent of various
third parties must still be obtained before a definitive
credit agreement can be concluded and the credit will be
made available.
SWISS announced today that it has signed a term sheet ("agreement
in principle") with an international banking syndicate,
setting out all of the key elements for the granting of
a secured credit facility.
Various third parties must still give their consent before
a definitive credit agreement can be concluded and the credit
will be made available.
Part of the credit facility will be used by SWISS to discharge
existing liabilities. SWISS will therefore have access to
net additional liquidity of CHF 180 million under the credit
facility. This amount will then increase to CHF 290 million
in June 2005 when SWISS meets its obligations under certain
of its existing aircraft lease agreements.
The banking syndicate comprises Halifax Bank of Scotland
(Lead Agent and Lead Arranger, CHF 100 million), Barclays
Capital (Lead Arranger, CHF 55 million), Credit Suisse (CHF
75 million), UBS (CHF 75 million) and the Zurich Cantonal
Bank (CHF 20 million).
Christoph Franz, CEO of SWISS, said: “We are very
pleased that we have been able to sign a term sheet for
a credit facility with the banks involved, following intensive
negotiations. We are confident that we will rapidly conclude
the definitive credit agreement and, with a strengthened
liquidity base, will then be able to implement the necessary
steps to further strengthen our competitive position in
the ever changing aviation market.” |
