Check-In On SIA Flights with (SMS) Short Message Service

C hecking in for Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights is just a text message away. With the introduction of the SIA Short Message Service (SMS) Check-in, frequent flyers (PPS Club and KrisFlyer members) and registered users of the SIA website can conveniently check-in using their mobile phones.

“With this new service, our customers can check-in remotely using SMS, the internet, phone or fax. This enables our customers to check-in in the manner that is most convenient and saves time for the passenger,” said Yap Kim Wah, SIA’s Senior Vice President of Products and Services.

SIA’s new service will initially apply to flights departing from 12 cities around the world including Auckland, Bandar Seri Begawan, Bangkok, Chennai, Christchurch, Dhaka, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Penang, Singapore and Taipei.

To access the service, customers must first register at the SIA website www.singaporeair.com. At the website, go to “My Flight Alerts” and click on “Check-in Notification Service via SMS” and the customer is ready to utilise the service. On checking in via SMS on the mobile phone, the customer will receive a confirmation of the check-in and the allocated seat number also via SMS.

On the day of departure, customers need only go to the airport to pick up their boarding passes and check-in their baggage, therefore saving time standing in line.

This SMS Check-in service is part of a suite of mobile services, including flight alerts, which enable customers to obtain information on SIA's services while on the move.

SN Brussels Airlines increases frequencies to Abidjan and Monrovia
SN Brussels Airlines anticipates the growing market demand with extra flights to Liberia and Ivory Coast. Starting on September 5, a second weekly frequency will be offered to Monrovia. As from October 31 SN will increase services to Abidjan from 3 to 4 weekly flights.

Thanks to these extra frequencies to Abidjan and Monrovia, more travel flexibility is offered to SN’s growing number of clients.

The second weekly frequency to Monrovia, in addition to the rotation on Wednesday, will be operated on Sundays as from September 5. The flight departs in Brussels at 11h35 and arrives in Monrovia at 18h10 local time. Departure of the return flight is at 19h30 and arrival in Brussels at 06h00 (all local times).

As from the Winter Season, starting October 31, Abidjan will be connected four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday) with Brussels and the dense SN network (instead of three times previously) . The new flight leaves in Brussels on Sunday at 11h35 and arrives in Abidjan at 20h10. Departure of the return flight is at 21h45

SN Brussels Airlines not only offers direct services from Liberia and Ivory Coast to the capital of Europe, one short stop over at Brussels enables smooth connections to the major European cities or regions and to the United States.

As from Winter Season, SN also offers more travel convenience and travel time saving for all clients travelling from Monrovia, Freetown and Entebbe to Brussels. Thanks to some operational changes in routings, these African destinations will now have at least 1 direct non-stop flight a week.

All flights are operated with the modern Airbus 330-300. Passengers can enjoy the award winning in-flight service from our multilingual cabin crew and a completely restyled business class service including first class meals.

Swiss TravelClub welcomes its two millionth member

The Swiss TravelClub, SWISS’s frequent flyer programme, continues to expand its membership base. The programme welcomed now its two millionth member in Geneva, and has thus added over 200 000 members to its ranks since January 2003.

The two millionth Swiss TravelClub member lives in Western Switzerland and, as a business traveller, is likely to be frequently found aboard SWISS flights. Like all new members, he received a welcome gift of 1 000 Bonus Miles. But he was also awarded a further 160 000 Bonus Miles, along with Swiss TravelClub Silver membership. SWISS CEO Christoph Franz was on hand to offer his personal congratulations.

The quality and reputation of the Swiss TravelClub were confirmed in May when the programme won two of the airline industry’s prestigious “Freddie“ awards.

Swiss TravelClub facts and figures
Some 70 per cent of the miles earned by Swiss TravelClub members are accumulated through their air travel activities. The remaining 30 per cent are collected from Swiss TravelClub marketing partners such as credit card companies, hotel groups and car rental firms. More than 100 000 members enjoy elite status (Swiss TravelClub Silver or Gold) within the programme. And over 90 per cent of the miles redeemed are spent on air tickets, largely for European routes.

The Swiss TravelClub has two million members around the world. Some 675 000 of these are resident in Switzerland, 870 000 elsewhere in Europe and 175 000 in North America.

Programme miles can be earned on SWISS, American Airlines, Iberia, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Qantas, Malaysia Airlines and Ukraine International. Miles can be redeemed for Free Tickets, Companion Tickets or upgrades to a higher seating class.
