Customers of Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Air Canada flying
between Southeast Asia and Canada will now have even more
flight options to choose from. SIA and Air Canada promise
customers greater convenience and flexibility in travel arrangements
with the addition of 10 code share flights from 15 January
2004.
The new code share services operating between Frankfurt
and Toronto, Frankfurt and Montreal, Frankfurt and Singapore,

a choice of up to 10 more daily flights.

in 33 countries. Taking into account code share services
with its alliance partners, the airline’s route network
extends to 108 destinations in 39 countries. Air Canada
mainline provides scheduled and chartered flights to over
100 destinations worldwide. Under the code share agreement
which started in October 2000, both carriers can sell seats
on each other’s services.

and A319 aircraft while SIA will deploy a mix of B747 and
B777 aircraft.

Heathrow are set to change terminals. Some shorthaul flights
will move to Terminal 4, and a number of longhaul flights

cater for longhaul passengers. Improvements include an upgraded
economy check-in area with 16 check-in desks and a new area
with 12 Self Service Check-in desks available. Clearly signposted,
as British Airways Premium Check-in (Zone R), the new Premium
Check-in Concourse area is dedicated to FIRST, Club World,
Club Europe customers and Gold and Silver Executive Members.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts: Public Wireless LAN throughout
Fast cable-free Internet surfing using high-speed wireless
LAN (WLAN) is a service that has become a matter of course
for business travellers at Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts
(MH&R). Usually this modern data transmission technology
is available only in designated areas - but that does not
apply to guests at MH&R, who can access WLAN not just
in all the hotel’s public areas (with just a few exceptions)
but also in their rooms.
“Wherever our guests happen to be, in the hotel lobby,
in the bar, in the restaurant or in their rooms, WLAN is
available throughout the hotel premises,” explains
François Stäubli, Head of Information Technology
at Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. “Wireless access
to the Internet is being used more and more by our business
clientele and has now become an essential part of any modern
communication environment.”
All the European hotels of the international hotel group
now provide this service, and the hotels and resorts in
the Middle East and North Africa are all to be equipped
in turn with WLAN. “So it’s not just in culinary
matters that we like to spoil our guests,” says François
Stäubli, adding “there’s no reason why they
shouldn’t enjoy the highest technical standards, too,”.

Delta Air Lines Launches Zone Boarding: New procedure simplifies
customer boarding process in airport jetways, onboard aircraft
Delta Air Lines will implement a new boarding procedure on
Jan. 21 on its United States flights - including San Juan,
Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas - as part of the carrier’s
commitment to making travel faster and easier for its customers.
On Jan. 21, Delta will replace customer boarding by rows on
U.S. flights, excluding Delta Connection and Delta Shuttle,
with a new staggered zone boarding procedure. Zone boarding
minimizes aisle congestion by replacing the current process
of boarding by rows with boarding by staggered zones.
All customers, including those departing the U.S. for international
destinations, will be given a zone number during check-in
that corresponds with their assigned seat. The number is
printed on customers’ boarding cards which can be printed
at the airport, via one of Delta’s self-service kiosks,
or from the comfort of home or the office using delta.com
online check-in. Boarding announcements will be made in
the gate areas advising customers when their zone is ready
to board. First class and Medallion customers will continue
to receive priority boarding.
“We’re committed to providing our customers with
speed and convenience whenever they travel,” said Rich
Cordell, Delta’s senior vice president-Airport Customer
Service. “Zone boarding is designed to simplify the
customer boarding process in airport jetways and onboard
our aircraft.”
