When air-traffic
control ordered that the airspace be closed in late April due to the ash cloud
issuing from the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajoekull, Europe was plunged into
chaos: millions of travelers were stranded at airports all over the world and
were only able to fly home after days of waiting, or were faced with substantial
difficulties. Nevertheless, many found the decision to close the airspace justified
– at least many CWT Traveler readers: 80 percent deemed closing the airspace
to be appropriate because there was an acute danger. By contrast, 20 percent
of readers found it unnecessary since it was based mainly on statistical values.
The new CWT Traveler Trendbarometer is not about exceptional situations, but rather about a normal everyday element of travel: transfers.
How do you travel from the railway station or airport to your destination?
A
brand new information source is now available to you in the form of the English-language
online newsletter CWT Industry Watch. It comes out monthly, filling you in on
all the latest developments in the travel industry. Published by the CWT Travel
Management Institute, the newsletter provides month-by-month updates on the
issues and trends currently relevant to the field of travel management.
What’s special about this newsletter is that all the articles list according to a uniform scheme why the new trend is important for travel management and what consequences it might have for you. The CWT Travel Management Institute thus helps travel managers stay up-to-date quickly and efficiently, enabling them to evaluate industry trends based on sound information and deal with them in a targeted manner.

Businesses in the oil and gas industry, in maritime and drilling exploration, wind and solar energy, place complex demands on their travel managers – not only do they travel to the far ends of the earth, they also often need to rotate and transport work shifts made up of several hundred staff members.
To provide the best in service to this client group, CWT has now created a new global organization for its CWT Energy Services division. This division offers CWT’s growing portfolio of clients in the energy sector integrated worldwide services specially tailored to their needs, including substantial added value:
