SWISS: “Best Business Class to North and South America” more
United Airlines invests in the future, ordering 50 aircraft with Boeing and Airbus more
American Airlines named Best Domestic First Class Airline by Global Traveler Magazine for fourth consecutive year more
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) earned a further distinction
in this year’s Business Traveller Awards: first place in the newly-inaugurated
category of
“Best Business Class to North and South America”.
The readers of Germany’s reputed Business Traveller magazine also voted SWISS “Best Airline for Europe”, the fourth time in succession that the carrier has gained this distinction. SWISS also took the top honours in a further award category, for “Best Direct and Connecting Flights to North and South America”.
The new SWISS long-haul Business Class features a unique seating configuration that provides genuinely spacious surrounds; and the seat itself boasts an innovative pneumatic air cushion whose softness can be quickly and flexibly tailored to individual needs.
The new SWISS product – featuring significantly more legroom in Economy Class and a two-metre-long, air-cushion bed in Business Class – is already in service on routes between Zurich and New York-JFK, Dubai/Muscat, Mumbai and Delhi, and, as of 30 January, between Geneva and New York-JFK.
United Airlines, one of the largest US carriers and an important Star
Alliance partner, has decided on a replacement of their widebody Boeing 747-400
and 767-300 fleet in the near future. In December 2009, the airline placed an
order for a total of 50 aircraft with both Boeing and Airbus – 25 A350
XWB and B787 Dreamliners respectively. Furthermore, United has future purchase
rights for 50 of each aircraft. The new plane generation is scheduled to be
delivered between 2016 and 2019.
The future aircraft provide three outstanding features in comparison to the actual fleet: significantly lower fuel consumption, a distinctly wider range – perfect for the highly demanded nonstop services – and much more efficient maintenance.
United – it’s time to fly!
For the fourth consecutive year, the readers of Global Traveler magazine
have bestowed the honor of "Best Domestic First Class Airline" upon
American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld® Alliance.
Global Traveler's annual GT Tested Awards program surveyed more than 25,000 business and leisure travelers to determine the best in business and luxury travel for 2009. The GT Tested Awards has been presented on 21 January 2010, in New York.
"Now that we have won this award for the fourth straight year, our customers know they will experience a far better premium travel experience on American Airlines," said Lauri Curtis, Vice President Onboard Service at American Airlines. "It is our hope that our flight attendants' tireless efforts to provide a safe and enjoyable flight – combined with the multitude of product enhancements that we have prudently invested in – will continue to enrich our customers' onboard experience."
