Air France and KLM’s Dual Network

Foto: Air France/KLMEach airline, whether Air France or KLM, has a stronger presence in certain parts of the world.  Air France, for instance, is better represented in Southern Europe than KLM. KLM, on the other hand has more flights to East Africa while Air France is stronger in West Africa. Consequently there are numerous ‘sole’ destinations, i.e. destinations operated by either one airline or the other.

Air France and KLM have, of course, designed simple tools to allow passengers to make the most of this dual network, notably with:

  • Two powerful hubs and the hubway, a system of 12 daily flights distributed regularly throughout the day linking Paris and Amsterdam, and connecting Air France and KLM networks.
  • 244 destinations in more than 100 countries based around these complementary networks
  • Fare combinability, an innovative concept allowing passengers to build their own trip to destinations operated by both airlines, combining a flight leg on KLM through Amsterdam with a flight leg on Air France though Paris. In this way passengers may benefit from connecting flights via one or the other hubs either on the outbound or inbound flight and make use of most suitable flight times (thanks to a better offer in terms of frequencies) and the most attractive fares (based on the addition of two half return trips).
  • Flying Blue, the joint frequent flyer program by Air France and KLM, the leading European programme with 17 million members.

Air France Affaires, optimum peace of mind thanks to streamlined service on intercontinental flights

Foto: Air France/KLMAir France continues to pursue its investment strategy by upgrading its Business offer for customers. As part of its commitment to constantly improve its customer travel experience,
Air France has introduced as from 2010, a more comfortable seat for working, resting or enjoying time on board; a more varied choice of dishes and a host of new services throughout the trip.

The Air France Business class seat, whose fixed shell guarantees the passenger’s privacy, offers enhanced comfort thanks to different innovations including:

  • a new structure comprising a lie-flat seat bed measuring over 2m in length and a new fixed foot-rest,
  • simpler and more practical controls,
  • new storage space,
  • a 15-inch (or 38 cm) wide screen in 16:9 format.

More practical to use, these redesigned Business class seats create a subdued and discreet ambience, lending a more light-filled dimension to the cabin and enhancing customers’ comfort.

Air France has also been renewing its catering service in Business class, in an aim to offer its customers a more varied choice and to enter the world of true, high-class restaurant-style catering. To do this, Air France has rethought mealtimes to offer brand new dishes, renew its menus more frequently and introduce new features for the benefit of its customers.

Furthermore, in order to facilitate the customer’s journey at every stage of their trip,

Air France has also enhanced the range of services available throughout their trip and improved the range of well-being services on offer in its lounges.
